Nazaré is equal parts beautiful and terrifying. On February 25, 2022 the swell of the season hit Portugal and big-wave surfers from around the world paddled out at Nazaré in hopes of scoring the ride of their lives. Lucas Chumbo, Nic von Rupp, Toby Cunningham, Maya Gabeira, and Rafael Tapia were a few of the names putting on a show. Although the waves were only in the 60-70 foot range, they were enough to keep the dream of the 100-foot wave alive.
