Slater at Shipsterns. I was fortunate enough to be in Tasmania when Slater first surfed Shippies. He started off a little slow, his first wave was a bogged bottom turn and the next couple he was too deep, but he changed his board and went on to dominate the place well into the afternoon. March was a very active month photo-wise. The month kicked off with more excitement than we had seen all winter when a huge swell pounded the California coast and parts of Southern California saw the best waves in, for some places, decades. Then, as the swell died, this digital community grew as more talented photographers came to showcase their wares. Photos from every corner of the planet poured in – Indonesia, Australia, all over North America, European beachbreaks and so many more. We haven’t had this much fun in a while, and we’re convinced you’ll love this look back at March’s 50 best photos.
