There’s a Dead Whale Washed Up at Lower Trestles Right Now

The crowd at Lowers might be a little smaller for the next little while, because there is a big dead whale washed up on shore.

Lower Trestles is notoriously crowded. As it should be–it is a perfect wave. But the crowd might be a little less for the next little while, because there is a big dead whale washed up on shore.

Anyone for a surf at Trestles? Im sure that #BeachedWhale oil should keep the crowds to a minimum coming into summer! Sketchy. Great white sightings sure seemed to coincide with the burying of a whale 15+ years back by Trails. Not saying they weren't around before then but they've been sniffing around the area consistently since then. I wonder if they can tow this thing back out to sea before it completely decays in the rocks. Anybody know?

That is sad. Everyone likes whales except for whalers, and they’re total dicks. While there isn’t much news on how this whale may have died, we’ll keep you updated. There are a number of ways for authorities to deal with the carcass, and hopefully they don’t go with the Oregon State Highway Division’s dynamite way.
