You remember that giant swell that hit Indonesia, don’t you? Yeah, no one’s going to forget it for a long, long time. Not only because it flipped that boat, but because it produced some of the most incredible waves anyone has seen in a long, long time. Nias, as you’ve seen from umpteen other clips, held that swell better than anywhere else in the archipelago, and a host of the world’s best surfers made sure they didn’t miss it. Tyler Newton was one of them, and the hyper-talented Etienne Aurelius was there behind the lens to make sure the viewer at home didn’t miss it, either.
