Ski and snowboard season are probably going to look a little different this year. Between social-distancing requirements in the lodge, grounded gondolas and a new reservation system to navigate, there’s been a massive increase in interest in backcountry skiing and riding. Whether you’ve been out in the backcountry your entire life or just bought your first avy beacon, if you’re planning on searching for off-resort freshies this winter, avalanche forecasts are about to become your most trusted resource. This video, released by the United States Forest Service and the Colorado Avalanche Information Center is a great resource on reading avalanche forecasts for noobs and old hands alike.
