Drones have been picking up a lot of speed lately and Dave Anderson, who runs a whale watching charter business, is taking full advantage. This 5-minute edit showcases a mega-pod of dolphins off Dana Point and whales migrating off the coast of San Clemente – a solid demonstration of what happens when technology and nature come together. Anderson also captured some close-up footage of humpback whales in Maui.
According to Anderson’s Facebook, he lost one drone, a DJI Phantom 2, after it collided with a radio antenna, a setback that cost him $1,700. Nevertheless, the impressive bird’s-eye view is one worth sharing. With drones receiving a lot of backlash lately, it’s nice to see one being put to good use.
