Drone Photographer Explains the Most Unnerving Shark-Surfer Interactions

Carlos Gauna is definitely a gifted drone photographer. And the man has studied great white sharks so much, he actually thinks like a shark. Here, he explains what we often think of as the creepiest of situations: sharks interacting with surfers in the lineup. He flies his drone near the shorebreak and explains how sharks and humans actually both hang out near the breaking waves, albeit for different reasons. Surfers, of course, want to catch waves. Sharks want to eat rays and other fish and animals that frequent that area. Gauna’s play-by-play is fascinating. His commentary leaves one question for most viewers, though: what if he caught an attack on camera?
