Spearfisherman Fends Off Multiple Sharks After Shooting Dog Tooth Tuna

There’s a saying in the spearfishing community: “You gotta pay the tax man.” It means, of course, that sometimes sharks are going to take your catch.

There’s a saying in the spearfishing community. “You gotta pay the tax man,” they say. It means, of course, that sometimes a shark is going to take your catch, but no matter how many times you have to pay said tax man, it can’t be comfortable. And for Seth Chin, the guy who filmed the video you see above, it probably wasn’t. After shooting a tuna, he had to fend off multiple sharks interested in what else he might have.

“A few Fijian locals enjoying my hard work,” he wrote on Instagram. “I shot a nice 15kg dog tooth tuna which was gone in a few seconds. Not satisfied they decided to change levels and see what the second course was.”

Luckily, the second course wasn’t Seth’s pound of flesh, but it came pretty damn close to it.
