Lauren Hill likes to think of herself as more than just a surfer. She’s a thinker, an environmental activist, and she just happens to be quite the accomplished longboarder as a new member of the Sanuk team. After winning the US Women’s Longboard Championship in 2001 she decided to focus on her education over competing, and used that education to find creative ways to marry her passion for the waves with a passion for taking care of the world she enjoys so much. As an ambassador for Women for Whales and Surfers for Cetaceans she takes marine conservation seriously, but as this video shows she doesn’t think surfers need to take themselves so seriously. It’s a refreshing message and a good reminder that even on the tiniest days you should be out there enjoying what you love most.
