Without storms, surfers are nothing. But they’re a bitter-sweet phenomenon, really. While storms provide countless hours of fun in the form of surf, they could be causing death and destruction thousands of miles away without us even knowing. Very rarely, if ever, are we able to see the foundation of what makes those lovely little things we call waves. Filmmaker Nicolaus Wegner made this awesome time lapse of burgeoning storms, and it reminds us just how incredibly powerful the earth can be. It starts out a bit slow, but around the 4:00 marker is when it really gets intense.
