William Trubridge is all about pushing his boundaries and going where no one has gone before. In an attempt to break his own world record of 102 meters at the freediving hotspot in the Bahamas Dean’s Blue Hole, Trubridge came within just feet of the surface before realizing he wasn’t going to make it. Assistance divers helped him to the surface.
William was raised in New Zealand, and as he descended into the depths, he had the full support of his country. As they watched on a live feed, the suspense was palpable. It took the decorated freediver nearly two minutes to reach his mark of 102 meters before he began his slow but steady ascent to the surface.
Within 10 meters of the surface, his body gave out. And while it must have been crushing to come so close, Trubridge hasn’t achieved his success by giving up.
