Learning By Doing with Snowboard Photographer Vernon Deck

One of the sport’s best lensmen gives us an inside look at shooting the pros.

Best Day

Picture 5 of 7

April 5, 2015, first thing in the morning I asked Will Jackways to hike up and hit this little spot right by the lift. Even if we had stopped right after this shot I would have been so happy but we went on to have the best day of the whole season.

Editor’s Note: Vernon Deck has been around. The Kiwi has shot Formula1, motocross and of course, snowboarding. And The Inertia Mountain has been lucky enough to receive updates and tutorials as he travels the globe. Deck, a Volcom photographer who’s based in Switzerland, gives us a few gallery images, above, with behind-the-scenes insights as he travels with the likes of Pat Moore and Jeremy Jones. Plus he recently dropped another edition of his “Learning by Doing,” series, below. Number 9 features Bjorn Simons riding Stubai, Austria.
