Kelly Slater is “injured” right now. At least according to the World Surf League, who replaced him for the Oi Rio Pro with Yago Dora. He was also “injured” for the El Salvador event, where he was replaced by Josh Burke. The day before he officially dropped out of the Punta Roca event, he was filmed surfing Desert Point. We have injured in quotes, because while he may indeed not be in contestable form (looks like he is to us), he’s certainly not too injured to surf Uluwatu. Which is what he was doing on June 21, when a solid pulse showed up. We can’t say we blame him — it would be hard to pass up Uluwatu when it’s pumping.
