Kelly Slater is on a different level when it comes to certain types of waves. Well, all waves, really, but when it’s big and hollow and barreling, that’s where Kelly shines. He might’ve dropped a bit in the WSL rankings over the last few years, but you can bet that if anyone draws him at a wave that’s going to require a heart-stopping drop followed by a masterful tube threading, they’re a little nervous. And when Kandui is working, it’s just about perfect for a surfer who can do the things Kelly Slater can do. This, of course, wasn’t during a contest, but it’s an example that Kelly Slater is still one of the best in the world.
