When Kelly Slater shows up in a lineup, it’s guaranteed to be a show. He’s the winningest surfer of all time, after all, and he didn’t get to that spot by being a bad surfer. It’s also likely when he shows up in a lineup that the waves are going to be good, because if he’s missing events (because of an injury, right?) for swells, it’s not going to be any old swell.
