During Tropical Storm Leslie, the outer bar at Oregon Inlet and a shorebreak point appeared that no one could remember ever seeing before. Due to a well timed contest, there was a star studded cast of surfers from the east coast and beyond who were ready to test these new breaks. Tristan Thompson from Florida checks on the inside of a shorebreak barrel.

I am an amateur surf photographer who lives, works, surfs and shoots on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. After working for a couple of years following college, I left a great job and went to law school so that I could live on the coast and surf. Between surf sessions, I try to shoot my friends and the local pro contingent as well as a few lineup shots to remember the day’s surf. I’ve always had an interest in photography, particularly surf photography, but didn’t have the necessary equipment until a little over a year ago. I have a long way to go, but with the help of a bunch of stellar local photographers, I’ve started off in what I hope is the right direction. Either way, I am enjoying shooting almost as much as surfing these days.
