Kelly Slater is going to have a second child soon. The announcement first came in March, via an Instagram post from Slater and longtime partner Kalani Miller. With the due date coming up, it appears that Kelly’s getting in shape with some shenanigans at the surf ranch.
Our insight into Slater’s fatherhood training regimen comes from a clip posted to Instagram by filmer John Decesare. In it, Kelly straps on a (seemingly occupied) Baby Bjorn to rip down the line on his famous chlorinated, train-powered wave.
Of course, the whole thing is in fun, as it appears to just be a dressed up baby doll in there, rather than an actual human child. That’s a good thing, too, because the sequence ends with a punt off the lip that might have proven catastrophic for a real-life baby, no matter how much DNA it shares with the GOAT.
